At the Aquarium, the octopi are given puzzles to solve such as a lidded jar with a piece of food inside. The Octopus Enrichment Program provides the Giant Pacific octopus opportunities for exploration and interaction similar to that observed in the wild. The size record is held by a specimen that was 30 feet and weighed more than 272 kilograms. Highly intelligent creatures, giant Pacific octopuses have learned to open jars, mimic other octopuses, and solve mazes in lab tests.
