The Gujarat State, India celebrated International Kite Festival 2011 on the day of Uttarayan (Makar Sankranti). Tourism Corporation of Gujarat has celebrated the International Kite Festival 2011 with wholesome participation from all over the globe at Sabarmati River Front from 9th Jan, 2011 to 12th Jan, 2011. Kites of all shapes and sizes are flown, and the main competition is to battle nearby kite-flyers to cut their strings and bring down their kites. Since 1989, the city of Ahmedabad has hosted the International Kite Festival as part of the official celebration of Uttarayan,The people of Gujarat known for their devotional celebration of various festivals.
